Since I was a wee young woman I would keep all my Young Woman handouts, and Seminary handouts in an old shoebox, labeled “Young Woman’s”. Well, I thought that sometime I would paint cute little wooden boxes for my Young Women girls for them to keep their handouts in.

As it turned out we didn’t have an activity planned for yesterday, so on Sunday I said we should paint cute little boxes to hold our handouts, and so we did! Here’s what mine turned out like:

The boxes were only $3.99 at Joann’s, and super cute. Also large enough to hold full sized papers if they were folded in half.

Sing, sing a song… July 23, 2008

Have you ever wondered what life would be like as a musical??

I did tech crew in high school, and was in a couple plays so it felt like I was constantly living in the state of a “musical” mind. We new the songs for all the plays and would break out singing sometimes, I know, I know…sad but true. It was good times (:P) after all.

Well, here is a crew that truly made life a musical. Granted they don’t sing very well, but still it’s hilarious.

Well, I might end up with a lot of flack for this post, but oh well. I recently went to see “Batman:The Dark Night.” Ben, John, James, and I all went an hour early so that we could get good seats, so Ben and I brought our books to read while we waited in line. I was pretty excited to see it, since the first one had been such a success. From the previews I could tell it would be kinda dark, but doesn’t every great drama have some darkness to it? Maybe that’s what I thought.

After 20 minutes of previews the movie started. 30 minutes later I was sitting back in the hallway reading my book again.

I know that everyone has been commenting on how it was the best acting ever, and how Heath Ledger stole the show…true, it’s all true. It was fantastic acting, so good that I was convinced that he was the joker and not an actor at all. Here’s the problem. Movies don’t know where to stop. There’s a rumor that the movie was originally going to be rated R (and I wouldn’t blame them!), but you know how Hollywood is, they lowered it to PG-13 so that they could get more people of all ages to see it and make more money. Guess what, it worked. They made the record for most money in shortest amount of time for a new movie. We all pretty much knew that would happen, but here’s what’s worrying me.

Like I said, they don’t know where to stop. They show everything bad and gory, and what is produced in stunts looks so real that in our minds it becomes an action, instead of the movie “illusion.” Some may say, “Well, I know it’s fake”, then why do you cringe and jump when it becomes intense?

I think that it was much too dark and real for it’s rating. If you loved it, great. But I don’t think that it’s appropriate for 13 year olds, and especially not for any younger than that.

You know for Brittan being such a small country is sure does pour out a lot of talent and inspiration. Just like Paul Potts here’s a young boy that has the voice of an angel and is still as humble as can be.

(If you haven’t heard of Paul Potts, check him out on youtube.com)

But check this out first. Truely inspiring.

Today Susan (a woman I work with) came in with this cutie in a box. Steve said that it’s a female, and I think that Susan has decided to call her Michelle. Isn’t she adorable!

This morning Susan went out on her front porch and low and behold Michelle was scuttling around in the front yard! So, she put her in a box and brought her to work for Steve to take home, since his family already has several. :)

Lately I’ve been addicted to listening to Queen. Yes, Queen…you remember that band. I have to say that right now Killer Queen is my favorite song, but next week it might go back to Bicycle Race. They really were genius. No one else that I know of, has ever used bicycle chimes for an instrumental break in their song. And if someone else did, I’m sure it didn’t sound half as good as Queen’s.

Well, I know he’s a kinda funny looking, and tries to dress like a girl. But then again what rocker didn’t back then? So, if you’d like a little Queen in your day, here’s a link to a bit of KILLER QUEEN, the music video!

–Don’t you just love the extendable mic stand in the video. Haha–

I love my fingers. I was picking up a few glasses the other day and just realized how great my fingers are. They helped me to hold two glasses in one hand. Later as I was typing I found that I loved them even more..

Of course I love them most of all, because they help me to play the piano.

God, thank you for my fingers.
